Best Birthday Present in the world

Yesterday was my birthday.....yes, I was born on Father's Day and every once in a while my BD falls on Father's Day. I received a BD card from my daughter Thursday but no present, which was ok with me because she is so good to help me out when I need it...... sometimes I don't know what I would do without her. Anywhoo.....I got a call yesterday morning early, she wished me happy birthday and proceeded to explain why there was nothing with my card was because it wasn't something that can be mailed and she would have to bring it with her. I was trying to tell her I don't expect presents from her etc. etc. and Matt (my SIL) said, just shut up and listen (kidding of course). Then Stephani asked me if I could have anything I want for my BD, what would it be. I had to think a minute because I knew Stephani wouldn't spend any amount of money for anything I want (like a new car).....so I said "For you to tell me you're pregnant." She said ok, you got it!!!! Talking about screaming and jumping for joy, I did every kind of happy dance that's ever been done and almost cried a little.

Wow.......what better present can a person get? I think in one of my last 2 or 3 post, I mentioned I wanted a grand baby soon and I'm getting what I want. I'm going to be a grandma around February 13. Stephani will be coming home this Saturday and staying until July 5 and we are going to go looking at baby furniture and stuff to see what's out there. Can't wait until she gets here. I hope for the next 7 1/2 months you don't get tired of me bragging about my soon to be grand baby.

I don't have a project to show you today, and I know this post has nothing to do with stamping but I'll get back to my crafts real soon. Can't wait to get started on baby stuff. So until next time just keep on stampin' scrappin' and smilin'..........Teresa

A Little Behind

Yes, I'm a little behind.....not only in blogging, but in crafting too. I started a part time job May 26 and it is 6 hrs a day 7 days a week thru today, 6-14. Beginning next week, it will only be Tuesday's thru Fridays until July 10. It's an enjoyable little job, but 7 days a week has taken a toll on me. So I haven't been able to post or craft much and probably won't until this is over. Then I have to start working on challenges for the next crop at CardMaker's. It is Christmas in July Crop, July 16-18. Plane now to join us, you can click on the blinkie to the right and find out more information.

Also, I can't wait until July 1 to place my first order from the new catalog. I just love it and you are going to love it too. If you haven't pre-ordered yours, please let me know if you want one. I am expecting them to arrive by June 26 and they never last long.

I do have a couple of little projects to show you today. The first one was my challenge at CardMarker's about 3 weeks ago. It is foil embossing and you can view the video tutorial at Stamp TV by Gina K. Here is what I used: Stamp set: Fresh Cuts; Card stock: SU's Rose Red, Whisper White, and Basis Black; Ink: Craft White; Accessories: Aluminum Foil embossed with Fiskars Lace embossing plate, SU white embossing powder, non-su black satin ribbon. I love how it turned out and everyone enjoyed the challenge.

My next project is this month's swap challenge, an altered mini composition book. Here are two I made for my daughter and son-in-law. The S is for Stephani and the M is for Matt. I made them so they could use either as a little book of love notes to each other, or a little journal for when they get pregnant (which I hope is soon). They have been married a year now and that's long enough, after all, Stephani just turned 35 and her clock is ticking. For the little books I used SU's scallop circle punch and Lovely Letters stamp set. Everything else is non SU.

I am also working on putting together some card kits for sale, so be looking for those soon and until next time, just keep on Stampin' Scrappin' and Smilin'.........Teresa

A Couple of Things

It's almost time for the new Stampin' Up catalog. And Yaaaah, they are going back to just one catty a year with 3 minis. The new catalog will be available July 1st and I will placing a pre-order this week. I'm getting soooo excited to see what's new for 2009/2010, I can hardly wait. If you would like to pre-order a catty, email me and let me know. The cost is $7 for hand delivery or $10 if you want it mailed.

Now on to my stamping project. I made some bookmarks for a card drive over at CardMaker's . I've made a few bookmarks before, but for some reason I just really really enjoyed making these. I will definitely be making a lot of bookmarks in the future.

Here are the recipes:
Blue and pink
Stamps: Soft Summer; Card stock- Pacific Blue and whisper white; DSP - Walk in the Park; Ink - Positively Pink, Mellow Moss, and Close to Cocoa; Ribbon - generic

Green and Yellow
Stamps: Just Buzzing By and sentiment is from Hero Arts clear stamps; Card stock - So Saffron, DSP - Delicate Dots from SAB; Ribbon - Certainly Celery 1/4 gross grain; Ink - Craft Close to Cocoa embossed with clear EP and Certainly Celery.

It doesn't show up in the pic, but the bees and happy are colored in with Gelly Roll glitter pen.

This is what I've done the past couple days, now I'm on to more past due projects. So until next time, just keep on stampin' scrapping, and smilin.

Now to the good stuff.......this week's challenge at Cardmaker Mag. Swap Board is Trash to Treasure and is hosted by my friend Jeanette Waters. A new challenge is posted every Monday by one of the talented members and you have until midnight the following Sunday to post your challenge. You can play along by clicking here:
http://www.cardmakermagazine.com/cardswap/index.php/topic,782.0.html
Here is my card.
I stamped SU's Baroque BG with basic black ink on whisper white, then covered it with a used drier sheet. The non SU black satin ribbon is ran thru 2 soda can tabs. I also used basic black as the card base. Although it doesn't show in the picture, I pressed dazzling diamonds into the drier sheet to give a little bling.

That's my post for today, so until next time, just keep on stampin' scrappin' and smilin'....
Thanks for looking
Teresa

Sorry I've been MIA

Ok.....so I've been MIA for a couple of weeks. I've been a little under the weather, and trying to get caught up on things I've been putting off. When it comes to anything besides crafting, I'm such a procrastinator.......so I just have to make myself do it.

Today I'm posting pics of the cards I made for last week's challenge at CardMaker's Card Swap board. The technique was called "Wipe Out", which was using bleach as a stamp pad and/or coloring tool. I had been wanting to try this so I did both.

The first card was using bleach as a stamp pad. I folded up a paper towel and placed in a square plastic bowl, poured a little bleach over it and used it as the the stamp pad. The stamp I used is from SU's set "Close As A Memory", it turned out pretty good, but I don't think I needed to press my stamp on the paper towel so hard. I used retired Soft Sky PDSP and cardstock, whisper white cs, and blue bayou ribbon. I tied a knot with the ribbon for the middle of the flower that is punched out with a McGill's daisy punch.

The 2nd card, I used bleach as a coloring tool. I first stamped the image from retired SU set "Summer by the Sea" with craft close to cocoa and embossed it the clear embossing powder. I then took a thin lined brush and got a little bleach on it (from the soaked paper towel) and started coloring the image with it. To help the drying process, I used my heat gun and then I stamped the sentiment. Paper used is SU's chocolate chip and tempting turquoise, retired groovy guava cs and PDSP. I added some blue dew drop and turquoise satin ribbon. I really like the way this one turned out. I was really pleased with the technique and will start incorporating it into more of my cards.

I'm working on some other projects and hope to get them posted soon.

Crop Challenges

I'm hosting 2 challenges in the crop this weekend at Cardmakers Magazine. The crop started Thursday, the 23rd and ends tonight at midnight. However, you have until midnight May 1st to upload your challenge. Here are the cards that I made for examples for my challenges.

The first challenge was Friday, Color Your World, using any medium for coloring your image. I used SU watercolor crayons, soft subtles. The stamp set is SU's retired "Summer By The Sea".

Today, for my 2nd challenge, I chose a color challenge using Blue and Orange. I'm not going to upload the card again, because it is already here, in the very next post. It is the 3rd card I'm using in my Seniors class.
